Fixed-Term Maternity Cover (15 Months)
Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays essential, plus either Monday or Tuesday)
Working hours: 7:45am or 8:30am – 5:00pm
Start date: Mid to late July 2026
Kivells is looking for a reliable and organised individual to join our team as a Part-Time Market Administrator on a 15-month maternity cover contract. Based at Hallworthy Market, this role is integral to supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the market and its administration.
There is also the opportunity, for those interested, to take a more hands-on role assisting with sheep scanning on market days at Hallworthy (and potentially Holsworthy). Full training will be provided on our bespoke auction software, Newline.
We are seeking a candidate who is:
• Highly organised with strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and able to learn new software quickly
• A strong communicator with a friendly and professional approach
• Able to work independently and effectively manage priorities
• Experienced in an administrative role (essential)
• Interested in or familiar with agriculture (desirable, but not essential)
• In possession of a full UK driving licence and their own vehicle
• First Aid qualification or willing to undertake first aid training (desirable)
Key Responsibilities
Administration Duties
• Provide support to the Hallworthy Manager, Auctioneers and Fieldsmen
• Handle telephone enquiries and greet customers in person
• Carry out general administration, including email management, document preparation, and catalogue production
• Update the website and social media channels
• Monitor and order office/market supplies
• Prepare for market days and assist with related administration
• Use the Newline accounts system during market operations
• Assist in resolving queries relating to stock sales
• Coordinate licensing and manage entries for TB markets
• Ensure health and safety matters are addressed and followed up
• Support market inspections as required
Market Operations Duties
• Ensure all health and safety tasks are completed on market days
• Scan sheep at Hallworthy (and optionally at Holsworthy)
• Assist with invoicing and processing payments
