Golf Club sold for £520
Kivells Holswothy Auction Room was the Venue for a Sports & Pastimes Auction of 450 lots which included a Collection of over 120 Hickory shaft golf clubs.
The Collection was assigned to Kivells from the Estate of the late Mr George Brown of Abbotsham. Collected by Mr Brown in the 1960's and beyond the collection included several longnose golf clubs. The star of the Auction was the longnose club made by William Park (1833-1903) of Musselborough, Scotland. From an initial bid of £100 furious bidding in the Room & on the Internet soon reached the selling price of £520 to a purchaer from Italy. Other longnose clubs sold at £210, £130, £110, £75 & various others to £30.
Among the other Hickory shaft clubs were a R Simpson Carnoustie patent metal headed club at £380, 3 clubs at£250, 6 Standard Golf Company alluminium headed clubs at £180 and 2 Gibson Sunday clubs at £110.
Other golfing items included a collage of Black & White photographs selling at £140, 4x1960's wrapped golf balls £48 and a Royal Doulton figure group "The Burn at St Andrews" for £60.
Other Sporting items included 60 fishing reels topped £40 each, 50 fishing rods to £48 each, Joe Davis snooker cue £70, group of Golf books £240, bound Cycling magazines £150, 8 Royal Doulton famous Cricketers toby jugs £140.
