  • Fowler K7 of 1918, build number 14695,

KIVELLS are instructed to offer for sale by PRIVATE TREATY the superbly restored Fowler K7 of 1918, build number 14695,
delivered new to Samuel Jackson & Sons and registered MA5129

This engine was built in 1918 as part of the Ministry of Agriculture war order for the pair of K7 engines, 14695 and the sister engine 14694.

The order included a full set of ploughing tackle for the contractors Samuel Jackson & Son of Wistaston, Crewe, Cheshire and used by them until sold in 1964 to HT Brown Construction and Excavation, Tettinhall, Wolverhampton, who worked the engines up until 1972, when they were sold into preservation.

This well known pair of engines were unusual for the UK market in that they were built with canopies.  The engines undertook some interesting and well recorded work including the dredging of the lake for Messrs Cadburys of Bourneville and at The Vyne, Basingstoke.

The vendor purchased the engine in 1987 and commenced a long and meticulous rebuild over the following 15 years.  The work has included:

    • A new rivoted firebox by Roger Pridham

    • A new submerged arc welded boiler from Deepdale Engineering

    • Tube Plate from Israel Newton

    • New backhead

    • New tubes and hydraulic test in 2012
