Descendants of Lt Col de Lisle Bush entered family silver items in Kivells 11th October Antiques Auction at Holsworthy Auction Room. The consignment included a large silver Presentation tray presented by Officers & members of the Ranks of the Gloucester Volunteer Regiment in 1862. The tray weighing in at a massive 4.03kg of silver far exceeded expectations by selling at £1700.
Kivells Live on Line Collectables Auction of 600 lots at Holsworthy Auction Room on 13th September included a good selection of Models & toys, Paintings, Medals & militaria, Stamps and small collectables.
A Lipkin Nuffield tractor and Clifford wreck truck sold at £125, 6 Scalextric racing cars at £150, a Wren Barnstaple loco & tender £45 and Wilesco static steam engine for £45.
The Collectors Auction held on 14th February included four Charles Branscombe watercolours of Bude Breakwater from differing perspectives.
The delightful painting of Sir Thomas Aclands bathing pool for men only, constructed in 1859, and known locally as Tommy’s Pit sold for the magnificent sum of £1500 and the other 3 all sold at £750 each.
A lifetime collection of over 250 lots of horse brasses, heavy horse tack and other items sold to an enthusiastic audience in the Room & On line.
Pick of the collection was a large brass saddle bridge piece which sold to a Welsh bidder On line for £440.
Other excellent prices were single horse brasses Langler of Ashburton £90, Puddy of Poole £70 & Speed the Plough £85.
At Kivells Auction at Holsworthy on 16th August a Bruce Talbert brass mantle clock with pendulum and finials missing surprised everyone in the room except the eventual winning bidder.
With a starting bid of £50 the Internet took off to £1400 the room bidder then took the bidding to a magnificent £1700.
At Kivells Auction at Holsworthy on 10th May a set of First World War Medals together with photographs were offered to a large audience in the Room and over 200 registered worldwide bidders on the Internet. The medals were awarded to Sargent E W Wood whose granddaughter lived in Stratton. The bidding swiftly moved to a final selling price of £560 to a collector in the Room.
Kivells Live on Line Collectables Auction of 820 lots at Holsworthy Auction Room on 12th July included a selection of Books from the Estate of the late Cyril Lucas of Harrowbarrow who was a keen collector of Cornish books.
At Kivells Live on Line Auction at Holsworthy on 14th June of Select Antiques & Collectables an Agate bead set of necklace, bracelet & brooch sold well above expectations to sell at the magnificent sum of £600. The same top bid of £600 from a Bidder in the USA secured the oriental Armorial dress panels painted on silk.
At Kivells Auction at Holsworthy on 12th April of Select Antiques & Collectables a Burmantofts majolica, grotesque bullfrog, spoon warmer sold to an internet bidder in the UK. Great interest was shown prior to the Auction and despite slight damage to its toes the guide price of £200-£300 was soon eclipsed to sell at the excellent price of £500.
