Cyril Lucas collection of books sell well

Kivells Live on Line Collectables Auction of 820 lots at Holsworthy Auction Room on 12th July included a selection of Books from the Estate of the late Cyril Lucas of Harrowbarrow who was a keen collector of Cornish books.

A set of 3 volumes of The Parochial History of the County of Cornwall was well sought after with keen bidding in the room taking a final £280. Two volumes of the Cornish Magazine dated 1898 & 99 sold at £120, a collection of Old Cornwall Society booklets £95, 1906 Kellys Directory of Cornwall £60, Daniels History of Cornwall £60, 1926 Kellys Directory £50 & 3 Cornish Mining books at £42.  

In a good Coin collection Sovereigns were selling at £220 to £250, half sovereigns £110 to £130, a 1927 florin sold at £130, 1927 halfcrown £75, 1562 sixpence £48, a third farthing £25, a group of nine halfcrowns £160, fourteen florins £160 & an 1880 USA dollar at £28.

Models & Toys included two Dinky lorries £60, Dinky For Zephyr £40, Spot On Jaguar £40 & Jensen £45, a collection of nine Hornby engines & tenders £520 with top price £70, eleven Bachmann engines & tenders £590 with top price £82, Merit accessories £55, Marx train set £100, Model Gypsy wagon £95, & 80 Del Prado lead soldiers £90.

A selection of Fishing items included a folding wood & brass Gaff at £170, two Hardy Bakelite fly boxes at £120, Hardy Flyweight reel £80, Allcocks Aerial reel £95, 4” reel £90 and Brady bag & contents at £40.

Among the Collectables a five Georgian signatures sold at £110, a MPP microflex twin lens camera £90, George V Metropolitan police helmet £50, bundle Boscastle maps £50, postcards & photos of the ship Ceres £55, Death plaque £65 and an Angle of Sight instrument at £55.
