Lisabeth Miller Joins the Professional Team

3rd August 2017

Kivells Professional are delighted to announce the appointment of Lisabeth Miller as a Rural Chartered Surveyor to head up the Professional Office at Holsworthy Livestock Market.

Lisabeth obtained a first class honours degree from the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester in Rural Land Management before spending a year in New Zealand gaining invaluable experience working on a 350 cow, pasture based dairy farm. Upon her return to the UK, Lisabeth was based in the Midlands before qualifying as both a Chartered Surveyor and an Agricultural Valuer.

Originally from Cheshire, Lisabeth has moved to Hatherleigh, West Devon with her husband to take on his family’s 30 acre farm where they have a small flock of sheep and a small free-range herd of pigs.

Lisabeth says “I am really looking forward to working with the team at Holsworthy Livestock Market and building up the Professional Department. My role will be to help farmers and landowners with a range of professional work including Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) applications, Countryside Stewardship grant applications, professional valuations for a range of purposes, tenancies and grazing agreements, compensation claims, and submitting planning applications for agricultural buildings and related dwellings. I have a particular interest in preparing business plans to accompany planning applications allowing rural businesses and farms to expand and diversify.”

“Looking forward there is uncertainty facing the farming industry in the forthcoming years following the EU referendum.  I will be keeping a close eye on developments affecting rural businesses over the coming months, and particularly those decisions regarding further Rural Development Programme funding and subsidies. I will be on hand to provide advice and assist farmers and landowners as further details emerge.”

Outside of work Lisabeth can be found outside on the farm, riding her horse in the countryside, playing netball or baking. Lisabeth is also an ambassador for Brightcrop, an organisation which promotes careers in the farming and food industry to young people.
