Walnut chest excites the bidders
Kivells Select Antiques & Collectors Auction on 5th December at Holsworthy Auction Room finished the Year on a high.
Great interest was shown prior to the Auction with over 250 bidders registered On Line from across the Globe.
An early 17th Century walnut chest with carved figures of a Knight, Prince & a Knights Templar started the Sale in fine style. Despite having woodworm and badly damaged by damp the chest did not disappoint and from a Guide of £500-600 soon sold for the excellent price of £940.
A large 9 foot pine farmhouse table from a Beaworthy farmhouse clearance sold well at £740 a pine dresser from the same clearance sold at £370, an oak Bible box at £380, oak file drawers £125, pine kitchen cupboard at £195 & a pine table drawers at £100.
Among a good selection of jewellery a 9 carat gold bracelet with 15 charms sold at £940, 18 carat gold & enamel Mizpah ring at £120, an 18 carat gold diamond & sapphire ring at £105, Omega silver pocket watch at £140, 9 carat gold double heart brooch £75 and a 750 gold chain link necklace at £640.
Over 50 lots of Silver items were sold with a set of 50 Ingots depicting the Kings & Queens of England sold at £1100, a similar set of 36 ingots depicting Vintage cars sold at £680, an early Trefid spoon at £220, pierced dish £155, 3 silver clad miniature prayer books £65 and a pair of rat tail spoons at £70.
In a varied selection of China an orange Sylavc rabbit surprised at £120, 5 inch tall Chinese teapot £125, Moorcroft Lily vase at £170 and Hibiscus table lamp at £140, Royal Worcester Princess Grace & foal £155 and Duke of Edinburgh playing Polo at £150, 8 Cecil Aldin puppies £150, 3 Meissen figures at £165 and C Dresser jug at £95.
Other interesting items included Schucco miniature teddy bear compact £145, pair Zeiss binoculars £140, Concorde paperweight £140, Victorian costume dress £135, Christian Dior 2 piece suit £95, old golf clubs £335, set of 3 cut glass decanters £300, Bavaria part tea set £105 and a Mappin & Webb part canteen of cutlery at £110.
