Properties in the Westcountry which have equestrian facilities have seen an increase in demand in recent years with major features being the excellent outriding on Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor and some beaches.

Properties with stables, 3-10 acres and either a sand school or access to one nearby are in particular demand. The comparative ease of vehicular access in the area and some fine equine centres all add to the demand for equestrian properties.

Elaine Cook, Office Manager and Senior Sales Negotiator at Kivells Launceston, discusses the current outlook for the South West housing market.

Kivells report a busy spring market with evidence suggesting that the acute shortage of stock of homes available for sale is easing with a robust labour market and mortgages which are more affordable than they have been for a decade has resulted in a continued rise in house prices.

A packed room witnessed a clean sweep of property and land sales at the Kivells Spring Property Collective Auction held at Launceston Guildhall. It was standing room only as bidders arrived from across the Westcountry for their chance to own one of five lots from Liskeard, Callington, Launceston and Bude.

Each of the four properties, and the land, were in hot demand on the weeks leading up to the auction with a large number of viewings taking place, carried out by Kivells property professionals. Each one went on to sell well beyond their reserve price to ecstatic purchasers.
