Biosecurity

All persons entering Kivells Livestock Market Premises and on farm Livestock Sales are required to comply with the current Biosecurity Legislation rules and conditions and obey the Biosecurity Notices posted in multiple locations in the market, on farm Livestock Sale premises, set out in any sale catalogue and any Auctioneers announcement.

Any concerns over Biosecurity should be reported to Kivells Biosecurity Officer.

Also note the following Kivells and Government Advice:

  • You should ensure that you know the signs of notifiable diseases in animals and, if in doubt, seek veterinary advice as soon as possible.
  • Do not come on to Kivells Livestock Premises and any Kivells on farm Livestock Sales premises with clothes or livestock vehicle (including a vehicle used to pull a trailer), contaminated with mud or other farm contamination.
  • Ample facilities Premises are provided for you at Kivells Livestock Premises to cleanse and disinfect your boots and scrub your hands. Use them if you need to.
  • Handling animals can spread disease. You should wash your hands and clothing / footwear before you leave Kivells Livestock Premises and Kivells on farm Livestock Sales.
  • Be alert for any signs of disease in animals. If there is a suspect case while you are on the premises, be prepared to cooperate with the authorities in implementing the disease control contingency plan.

Animal Welfare

Good welfare of animals within our sale premises is highly important. All vendors, purchasers, agents and hauliers must abide with all legislation governing the welfare of animals whilst at Kivells Livestock Market Premises, our on farm sale premises or in transport to or from the sale premises in force at the time. Any concerns over welfare of animals should be reported to the Animal Welfare Officer.

Vehicles used to transport animals to or from the sale premises must comply with current cleaning and disinfection legislation. All vendors, purchasers, agents and hauliers must comply with all current legislation governing the Welfare of Livestock whilst at Kivells Livestock Market Premises or in transport to or from the sale premises.
