PART DISPERSAL SALE OF VINTAGE TRACTOR COLLECTION
- 1970
County 1124 with mid-mounted crane- vendors comments: This tractor joined the Dave’s Tractors collection about 10
years ago and was purchased from Jeff Hewitt who used it in Wadebridge Boatyard
to get boats in and out of the river. He’d purchased it from Haynes Bros of
Micheldever in Hampshire some fifteen years before that. Previous to that, it
was believed to have been involved with forestry work
- 1969
David Brown 990 – vendors comments: Originally from Oxford this tractor was partially restored
and then halted when it got to the cab. It really needs a new canvas but,
because access wasn’t the easiest, no decision was made and that’s how it
stayed- HOT 156G
- 1971
David Brown 1210 with loader- vendors comments: Very original looking tractor with an unusually sound cab,
this one could easily be rallied or put back to work as it is. Fitted with
pallet forks, the loader will easily handle a ton or more
- David Brown 1212 with loader- vendors comments: Another very sound machine with an exceptionally good cab, I
bought this one from close to the Silverstone GP circuit about six years ago.
Again, this tractor could easily be used for work or play with very little
effort
- 1981
David Brown 1490
- Fordson
Standard N fitted with Perkins Diesel Engine- vendors comments: This tractor was partially converted by my old friend Ticker
Haines. Unfortunately, he contracted cancer and passed away before he could
complete it. His family offered it to me to finish and, although it probably
took two years to find the missing pieces, it’s all together now and would make
an excellent ploughing tractor
- 1955
Fordson Diesel Major with front mounted welder- vendors comments: This was found in a hedge near Camelford in 2018 and was in
a very bad state. Surprisingly, the engine started but the welder was beyond saving. Luckily, I
was able to locate a replacement to complete the restoration and it was shown
at the Royal Cornwall Show in 2019 (featured Tractor Magazine December 2019)
- 1952
Fordson Diesel Major, no hydraulics or PTO- vendors comments: This tractor was sold new by Sprys of Launceston as a
replacement for a Standard Fordson. Since the man that bought it had no mounted
or PTO driven machines to put behind it, he saw no sense in buying hydraulics
or PTO on his new tractor
- 1959 Fordson Dexta- vendors comments: Sold by Sprys to the same farmer as the Major above, this
one was traded for an E27N which had got a PTO but the Dexta probably wasn’t
available without anyway. Interestingly, the farmer concerned went to America
for ten years and took this tractor with him on the Queen Elizabeth. When he
came back, it was again aboard the Queen Elizabeth and the tractor came with
him
- 1961
Fordson Super Major with Cooks two speed winch- vendors comments: used in Falmouth Docks for many years, this tractor was in a very bad state when found. Many thought it would never go again but, with help from another donor tractor found in the same hedge, we managed to get it going. The winch was a challenge but is all free and working. It will need some plating for strength and some operating levers which are beyond saving
- 1969 Leyland 384- vendors comments: Good sound tractor that starts easily, there was a problem
with the wiring and, in a fit of pique, the previous owner ripped it all out with
the intention of starting again. It never happened and I bought it as part of a
job lot, put it in the shed, and haven’t touched it since
- 1974 Leyland 255- vendors comments: I bought this one sight unseen which was being sold because
the head gasket had gone. We brought it home, replaced the gasket and all was
well. Suitable for restoration or go back to work, this tractor has power
steering and a pick up hitch. All panels and doors are included
- 1960 Massey Ferguson 97, 4WD- vendors comments: Badge engineered version of a Minneapolis Moline, these
tractors were used mainly for drawbar work in America. This one was brought
back from Canada by Jason Smith from Yeovil who sold it to Peter Lobb of
Summercourt. Sadly, Peter passed away and, after a short spell in the ownership
of Timmy Michell it passed over to me and has been in my shed ever since. The
unusual feature on this tractor is the 4WD because the majority were sent out
as 2WD units. The 4WD axles were usually reconditioned units salvaged from
American GMC wartime trucks
- 1960 Massey Ferguson 65- vendors comments: I bought this one as part of an exchange deal on a Mercedes
van. Mechanically very good, little work is needed to bring this up to rally
spec. Although the brakes work well, one does have a nasty habit of locking on
so does need some minor attention before attempting a road run
- Winget Transformer Dumper, 4WD- vendors comments: Put together by ourselves, we used many years either fencing
or installing play equipment. Fitted with pallet forks, a hydraulic auger,
combination water tank/rear weight, the engine could always be relied on to
start on the first touch of the key
TRACTORS & VEHICLES
- Massey Ferguson 135, showing 3,208 hours- vendors comments: last used in the 2024 season
- 2005 Valtra 6550, 4WD- vendors comments: full service history, one owner- WK05 ELH
- 2005 Land Rover Discovery, MOT> Jul 26, 161,550 miles, 2.7 TDV, manual, 3 keys - vendors comments: selling as no longer needed to tow. Starts, runs and drives. Handbrake works as it should. Suspension works as should- GF55 ZNE
- 2000 Land Rover Defender 110, TD5, MOT> Oct 26, 272,000 miles- vendors comments: new engine 120,000 miles ago, runs and drives as it should, never let me down, doesn't get used hence sale, no miles since MOT, recently serviced, has new starter motor and a lot of work done for the MOT, have included 4 extra doors, chassis in excellent condition, the engine has been replaced before I bought it, won't let you down- X377 BAY
