Kivells has welcomed the Government’s proposals to improve the home-buying and selling process, including plans for more upfront information for buyers, higher professional standards for agents and greater use of digital tools. The leading South West property firm says it supports efforts to improve transparency, certainty and speed for clients, but urges ministers to ensure any changes are practical and proportionate for rural markets.

“We welcome the Government’s ambition to make property transactions faster and more transparent. Buyers and sellers deserve confidence that deals will progress smoothly,” said Daniel Stokes, Director at Kivells.

“However, many homes in the South West come with rural complexities such as private drainage, unregistered land and historic covenants. Requiring full information packs before marketing may add costs and delays for some vendors. We want to see a proportionate approach that works for all property types.”

Kivells says it is keen to contribute its experience to the Government’s consultation, drawing on its work with a wide variety of residential, agricultural and rural properties. The firm believes that active engagement between policymakers and practitioners will be key to ensuring any proposed reforms are workable for all parts of the country.

“We look forward to sharing our insight through the consultation and to working with policymakers and the wider industry to help shape practical solutions that improve outcomes for our clients,” added Daniel Stokes.
