  • Secretary to Director

    Department: 
    Office:  Exeter Livestock Centre

    Based at our Exeter Livestock Centre we are recruiting a full time Secretary to a Director. Part time will be considered but the role is office based. 

    The role: The role includes supporting the Director with the day to day running of the business, audio and non-audio typing, preparation of letters, reports and catalogues. 

    The role will also involve carrying out other general administration duties for the Agricultural and Farms/Professional Departments including assisting clients both face to face and via the telephone. 

    The candidate: The successful candidate must be computer literate, have a fast accurate typing speed (at least 50 words per minute), possess excellent communication skills and be able to meet strict deadlines. Must have excellent customer service, a methodical nature and the ability to work under pressure. In addition, the successful candidate will be bright, cheerful, willing to help and quick to learn. They must have the ability to use their own initiative and work confidently on their own or as part of a team. Previous secretarial experience and use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher is essential. A background and interest in agriculture is desired. The successful candidate may require a DBS check and credit check for this role. This is an interesting and varied role requiring a candidate with a strong work ethic. 

    Duties will include (non-exhaustive): 
    - Provide Secretarial support to a Director in respect of all aspects of the business 
    - Audio and non-audio typing of letters, reports, valuations, sales particulars and presentations 
    - Handling inbound & outgoing telephone calls, taking messages where necessary 
    - Proactively book viewings as well as dealing with valuation requests 
    - Maintain and organise diary system / valuations / appointments 
    - Sending and receiving of emails via Microsoft Outlook 
    - Deal with customer enquiries and customer problems 
    - Ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering Policy 
    - General secretarial duties including mailing, photocopying etc. 
    - Provide administrative support to the Auctioneers, Fieldsman and Accounts at Exeter as required 
    - Typing accurate cattle catalogues from information supplied by farmers and Societies 
    - Obtaining the appropriate TB licences when necessary 
    - Interpreting information appropriately 
    - Preparation of catalogues including help with photocopying and posting 
    - Production of market reports and adverts relating to sales 
    - Coordination of cattle entries 
    - Updating website and social media 
    - Preparation of selling information for Auctioneers 
    - Collation of passports and input on to the market computer system 
    - Assistance with the organisation of on-farm sales 
    - Provide account support on market days 
    - Help with reception of and booking in of livestock 
    - Assist other markets and departments where appropriate 
    - Compliance with all GDPR rules and procedures 
    - Any reasonable instruction 
    - To fully comply with the duties and requirements as set out in the Employee Handbook including contributing to necessary office tasks to ensure housekeeping 

    Working Hours: 8.45am till 5.30pm Monday to Friday. In addition you may also be required to work Bank Holidays.

  • Rural Chartered Surveyor

    The Company & the Role: 

    Kivells is a progressive regional firm of rural chartered surveyors, well established throughout Devon and Cornwall. This role is based at the Exeter Livestock Market to service our established client base in Devon and Cornwall, as part of the role the successful candidate will work alongside chartered surveyors, auctioneers, and farm agents. 

    The Candidate: 

    We seek an ambitious and dynamic rural chartered surveyor with excellent time management and organisation skills to take a pro-active lead in further developing professional services and winning business for the company. 

    Duties include (Non-exhaustive):- 

    • • To service our large existing client base 
    • • Take a pro-active approach to identify new areas of business and lead the expansion of the rural professional department based at the Exeter Livestock Market 
    • • To provide clients with a professional service advising on a range of topics including valuation, rural planning, compulsory purchase and compensation, countryside stewardship, basic payment scheme, ELMS, landlord/tenant, rural property management and renewables 
    • • To further develop the office Residential, Farm and land agency department 
    • • To win instructions for the Company 
    • • At all times to use best endeavours to gain instructions for any office/department of the Company 
    • • At all times to project a smart, friendly, polite and professional image providing the highest standard of customer care in order to secure recommendations and further business for the Company 
    • • To be a fully integrated team member 
    • • To be proficient in the use of all office IT and communication systems 
    • • Any other reasonable instruction 

    Applicants must have MRICS/FRICS qualification, and CAAV qualification and relevant experience. Commitment and hard work will be rewarded, with essential attributes being an interest in the rural sector and a practical and positive attitude. 

    Our experienced team includes chartered surveyors, livestock auctioneers, farm and estate agents and the successful candidate will be encouraged to be involved in all areas of the firm in order to gain the broadest range of experience possible. Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence and have their own vehicle, have a cheery disposition and be able to work as part of a team as well as off their own initiative. DBS and credit check will be required for this role. Immediate start available. 

    Salary: Competitive salary depending on experience and commission package available.

  • Livestock Handlers

    Department:  Agriculture & Livestock
    Office:  Exeter Livestock Centre

    We are looking for additional team members to join our busy team at our Exeter Livestock Centre. Immediate start and multiple positions are available. 

    Working as part of our Livestock Handlers Team, duties for this role include loading and unloading stock and assisting with the movement of stock through the market whilst always adhering to health and safety protocols. 

    The role will also involve washing and preparing livestock as and when required for market and dispersal sales.
